Teaching Stuff This is my fortieth year of teaching, the last 15 at Sequoia Middle School. I also taught in Oakland, Woodland and Castro Valley as well as Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands.
For my first 15 years or so I taught mostly 5th grade with a little bit of 4th. My last 25 years have been spent teaching 6th grade. I did take two years off to serve as a coach for new teachers in our school district.
I have been working for St. Mary's College for the past 6 years in their Master's in Teaching Leadership program. I also taught for a while in the teacher education program at Cal State, East Bay.
Fun Stuff I really enjoy travel to other countries. My wife and I usually find a way to get to Europe most summers. We often trade houses with people in Europe. This past summer we went to Ireland with our daughter. Then we roamed the Rockies in Colorado.
I am also a movie buff and try to get to as many films as I can.
I am a big basketball fan. I played for 40+ years (until my knees said to stop). I also coached high school basketball for many years. Now I go to all of the St. Mary's College home games and continue to follow the Golden State Warriors. I am also a huge Giants fan, though I also keep up with the A's.
